Whether you are a dedicated sports fan or simply a tourist looking to visit some of North America’s iconic spots, this year you really must visit these five North American stadiums. In fact, you don’t even need to buy seats at a game from ticket offices because most, if not all of these stadiums are also host to concerts by some of the world’s most famous bands in almost every genre, but of course, especially rock.
Check out a bit of stadium history, root for your favorite team, or hear your favorite band. These are the top five critics’ choices for sports stadiums in North America that you really must see, at least once in your lifetime.
1. Fenway Park – Baseball
As the oldest baseball stadium in the United States still in use, Fenway Park is one bit of history that you truly must visit once in your lifetime. Located in Boston and home to the Red Sox, there isn’t a more famous stadium in the USA, except perhaps the Yankee Stadium that once stood where Heritage Field is now located. There is no fan more loyal than a Red Sox fan and no stadium more deserving of the coveted #1 position of stadiums you must see than Fenway Park.
2. MetLife Stadium – NFL
The MetLife Stadium in NYC is a stadium you must see for a few reasons. Not only is it one of the newest of the NFL’s stadiums and thus a hi-tech experience, it has the unique distinction to be home to two (that’s right two!) National Football League teams, the New York Jets and the New York Giants. How do you pick a favorite there? Both teams represent the City and both teams are extremely popular even with non-New Yorkers. What you need to think about when visiting this NY stadium is how intriguing it is that the colored lights change to team colors representing which team happens to be on the field that day, and that the enormous 20-feet pylons play live video feeds of the team on the field.
3. AT&T Park in San Francisco – MLB
Who doesn’t fancy a trip to world famous San Francisco with its iconic streetcars, Haight Ashbury of 1960s Hippie Fame, and now the amazing AT&T Park? As you sit in the stadium you can see the backdrop of the bay, and an amazing super-giant Coca-Cola with lighted slides and bubbles and an equally humungous baseball mitt (four-fingered) sitting imposingly beside the bottle, which lights whenever a homer is hit. There is nothing quite like watching the Giants of MLB fame in a stadium with giant attractions, all overlooking the bay that is world famous for so many reasons.
These are three must-see stadiums in North America that are sights to behold for more than just sports fans. Each is also home to concerts and other large-scale events and each has something amazing to set it apart from any other stadium within the same sport. Taking a trip cross country this year? Check out these three stadiums. You certainly won’t be disappointed.
