It’s December and everybody is preparing for the Christmas celebrations, enduring bad weather and ready to unwind for an end of year relax and a much needed new year party. However, 2017 is just around the corner ready to be a year filled with adventures and exciting journeys for many people including cyclists.
At this time of year it can be a challenge to start preparing for activities and holidays for next year, but now is the perfect time to start planning giving you ample time to prepare and work out what you want to do for the upcoming summer holiday.
Personally I’ve been doing some planning and have a number of UK cycle routes that will be considered to embark on in the summer of 2017.
C2C Cycle Route or Coast to Coast Cycle Route
If you are unaware of the coast to coast cycle route it is probably the most popular well known cycle holiday ion the UK.
The coast to coast route takes much pedal-power to complete as it starts at one side of the English coast in the West and reaches over to the English East coast.
The route is embarked on by thousands each year who seek adventure, challenge and beauty all encapsulated in this one cycle route.
Pedal Power UK are one provider who has helped many over the years complete the C2C route providing cycle hire, baggage transfers, support, transport and many other services to make this happen.
Sandstone Way Route
This is a mountain bike route that winds in and out of the most beautiful countryside imaginable. The route starts in the Scottish/Northumbrian borders in Berwick Upon Tweed and finishes in Southern Northumberland in the pretty town of Hexham.
If you have never experienced the beauty of the Northumberland countryside then this might be for you. Northumberland is steeped in history and along this route you will see some amazing landscapes, huge sandstone boulders and everything to make you feel you are in Middle Earth straight from the Lord of the Rings movies.
The Sandstone Way route is 120 miles in total and it is advised that riders who choose this holiday have a good level of riding experience as it can prove to be challenging at times!
Coast and Castles Route
As mentioned above the County of Northumberland is a gorgeous beauty spot boasting both history and unforgettable scenery in magnificence.
Whilst the above routes take you on a journey through central Northumberland this route takes you along the coast of Northumberland and into Scotland alowing you to experience the just as imposing coast line.
When you take the Coast and Castles route you will stop at and pass many castles along the way – each with their very own story that ties into English history. Passing by these magnificently built structures you will be in awe of the sheer size that will no doubt instil a sense of profundity as you continue on your bike ride.
There are a few different options to consider when taking this route, so plan carefully and you will not be disappointed.
Cycling in 2017
I’m sure you will have a wonderful time in 2017 when on your cycle holiday if you choose any of the above or any other UK cycle routes.
For now plan wisely, get excited and enjoy everything 2017 has to offer. Finish the 2016 the right way and get deciding what adventure awaits YOU in the upcoming year!
